Building a better way to measure and follow physical function.
Mikko Komulainen is the founder of Kinegrade Health, an early-stage health technology company being built to make physical function easier to measure, understand and follow over time.
His background combines business development, B2B sales and marketing, financial administration, international business and startup ecosystem development. Before Kinegrade, he worked across accounting, software sales, export, marketing and entrepreneurship, as well as supporting early-stage companies and commercialization activities.
The idea for Kinegrade grew from a simple question: Why isn’t muscle health measured like the rest of our health? Strength, mobility, balance and physical capacity shape how we recover, age and live independently. Yet they are often measured infrequently, inconsistently or not at all.
Why Kinegrade
Making physical function visible.
Healthcare measures a huge number of things precisely. Blood pressure, glucose, heart rhythm and laboratory values can be captured, compared and followed over time.
Physical function is different.
Strength, mobility, balance and functional capacity are fundamental to how people recover, age and live independently, yet the information describing them is often fragmented across individual assessments, notes and clinical encounters.
That gap became the starting point for Kinegrade.
The ambition is not simply to digitise another assessment form. Kinegrade is exploring how physical-function measurements could become structured longitudinal data — easier to collect, easier to interpret and easier to use when deciding what should happen next.

I am particularly interested in hearing from clinicians, healthcare organisations, researchers, technology partners and health-tech investors working around physical function, ageing, rehabilitation or measurement.
